Toronto, November 15 (IANS). The Haryana Association of North America (HANA) has presented its annual Haryana Ratan Award to Sandeep Goyal of Ambala, who is the CEO of ICICI Bank in Canada.
The award was presented to Goyal by Kuldeep Sharma, president of Hana, the largest organization of Haryana expatriates in North America, and Indian Consul General Apoorva Srivastava at the Marriott Hotel in Bramton.
Kuldeep Sharma, originally from Faridabad, is one of the top hoteliers in Canada. “The purpose of HANA is to connect the indigenous people of Haryana with their roots, to keep our traditions alive, to promote trade relations with Haryana and to honor the Haryanavis who have achieved achievements in North America,” he said.
After accepting the award, Goyal said, “It is a matter of great pride for me and my whole family that I received this honor.” I was born in Ambala and grew up in Delhi but I am deeply attached to my place of birth. My wife Bindu is also Haryanvi, this further deepened my relationship with the state.
Describing Haryana as the place of Mahabharata, Goyal urged him to follow the principles of the Gita and accept new life and opportunities but never forget his roots.
Consul General Srivastava described Haryana as the largest center of automobile manufacturing in India. He said that the Consulate General of India would give full support to promote the traditional crafts and state of Haryana in Canada.
