New Delhi, 16 November (IANS). Today i.e. on 16 November, Press Freedom Day is being celebrated across the country. On this special occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah while greeting the media personnel said that the Narendra Modi government is committed to the freedom of the press and strongly opposes those who oppose it.

Shah tweeted and wrote, Our media fraternity is working tirelessly towards strengthening the foundation of our great nation. The Modi government is committed to the freedom of the press and strongly opposes those who oppose it.

The Home Minister openly praised the role of the media against the coronavirus epidemic and considered it remarkable.

On this occasion, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, in a message in a webinar organized by the Press Council of India, also reiterated that freedom of the press is the cornerstone of our democracy, but at the same time termed this freedom as responsible.
