Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh), 16 November (IANS). Four rhinoceros have also been included in the officially settled rhinoceros population of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR), which was born only a year ago.
According to the rules, rhinos below the age of one year are not included in the census as most of them do not survive. The count of one-horned rhinos has now reached 42 in Dudhwa.
DTR (Core) Deputy Director Manoj Sonkar told reporters, “We are very happy to include four rhinoceros children in the census and now there are 42 rhinos in Dudhwa. The monitoring team is monitoring them. Normally, children are not included in the census because they are subjected to many dangers from the weather and carnivorous creatures like tigers and leopards.
