Washington, November 17 (IANS). US President Donald Trump will issue a formal order to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan and Iraq by this week at the earliest. This information was given in media reports on Monday.
US media quoted officials as saying that the Pentagon had issued a notice to the commanders to begin a plan to reduce the number of troops from both Afghanistan and Iraq to 2,500 by mid-January.
The reports came after a reshuffle led by the Pentagon last week. President Trump last Monday appointed Christopher Miller, director of the National Counter Terrorism Center, as caretaker defense minister.
Soon after taking office, Miller indicated that he could expedite the task of repelling American troops from Afghanistan.
