Mumbai, 18 November (IANS) In Beed district of Maharashtra, a young man threw acid on his 22-year-old girlfriend and later tried to burn her by pouring petrol, after which the young woman injured during treatment died on Sunday.

Officials said on Wednesday that preliminary police investigations have revealed that the victim had allegedly left her husband for the accused lover who murdered her.

Accused Avinash R. Rajure (25) and victim Savitra D. Ankulkar were living together in Pune. Here the accused was employed as a technician in the global company Haier.

Rajure was caught by the Beed Police on Sunday from a hideout in Nanded. The next day, the joint civil judge of Beed Court Qadir A. Sarvari sent him to police custody for a week.

A preliminary inquiry by District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Sawant found that the accused and the victim had allegedly had an affair for the past five years.

In between, the victim was married to a local boy more than two years ago. However, the marriage did not last long, as she reportedly left her husband to elope with Rajure.

Sawant told IANS, according to the accused (Rajure), she had left her husband and she had moved with him to Pune, where he allegedly got married in a temple and had been living together for the last few years. . While her husband and parents were unaware of the development.

The preliminary investigation has also revealed, among other things, that the woman allegedly wanted a child, which the accused opposed. Apparently, the same thing arose between these two. The accused did not want to have any kind of relationship with the victim for a long time.

Sawant said, for the past two years, neither the woman’s husband nor her parents lodged a police complaint for fear of social stigma. Apart from this, the victim had severed all ties with her family and in-laws in the last two years.

Laxman Kendre, in-charge of Neknur police station, said that the victim was a resident of Shelgaon in Nanded district of the state and was going to her ancestral village with the accused from Pune. During the journey, both of them stayed at a deserted place at Yalamb Ghat in the district, where the accused allegedly threw acid on the woman and later tried to burn her by pouring petrol. After this, the accused escaped from the spot. The injured woman was rushed to the hospital where she died.

Police officer Laxman was the first person to reach the crime scene.

At first Rajure tried to strangle him, but he was not successful in this attempt, then he took out a bottle of acid and threw it on the victim. IANS was first reported on 15 November.
