Pilibhit, 19 November (IANS). A case has been registered against 4 people for attempting to rape a 17-year-old girl in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. All the accused are real brothers.
The case has been registered under the POCSO Act on the instructions of the Additional District and Sessions Judge.
The incident took place on 9 October, when a boy, aged between 23 and 28, barged into the girl’s house and one of them attempted to rape her, while others videoed it on her mobile phone.
However, people gathered around after the girl shouted, forcing all the accused to flee.
The accused threatened that if the girl or her family members approached the police, they would upload the video on social media.
The girl’s father lodged a complaint with the Kotwali police and the Superintendent of Police. The family alleged that no action was taken, after which the victim’s father went to court.
The girl’s father said that the eldest brother stares at his daughter and often indulges in indecent behavior with her.
He said that when he reached the family of the accused with the complaint, the accused Danish and his three brothers beat him up and threatened to make the video viral if he or his daughter went to the police.
Station House Officer (SHO) Shrikant Dwivedi said that the main accused and his brothers were charged under sections 354 (criminal dealing with a woman), 323 (intentionally hurting), 452 (forcibly entering one’s house) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. (Criminal intimidation) under the case. He has also been charged with the Poxo Act.
He said that the matter was being investigated and action would be taken soon.
