New York, 20 November (IANS). The victory of elected President Joe Biden in the US state of Georgia is sealed. The presidential elections were held on 3 November in the US.
Significantly, the votes were counted again after the objection by President Donald Trump’s camp.
Georgia State Secretary Brad Raffensparger announced the results of the vote Thursday evening, showing that Biden defeated President Donald Trump by 12,284 votes.
Of the 49.4 lakh ballots cast in the state on November 3, Biden was ahead by 0.25 percent, and all ballots were counted by hand for audit.
The 16 electoral colleges in the state were at stake.
When 5,771 uncounted or incorrectly reported votes were received during the audit, Biden’s lead was reduced to 1,375 votes after the audit.
The historic first statewide audit of Georgia confirmed that the state’s new secure paper ballot voting system reported the correct calculation and correct results, said Raffensparger.
Trump and his campaign claimed to have counted illegal votes, saying they would continue to challenge the results in the courts.
We intend to pursue all legal options to ensure that only legal ballots are counted, said Jenna Ellis, senior counsel for Trump Campaign.
At the same time, Biden criticized Trump’s efforts to keep accusing him of fraud.
He said that Trump’s actions are incredibly harmful and send the world a terrible message about who we are as a country.
Trump may once again ask for a count as his margin of defeat is less than 0.5 percent, which his campaign is ready to do.
However, even if Trump wins Georgia again with the ballot or court aid, Biden will still be the winner of the presidential election as he has 306 electoral college votes and 16 more losses if he has more than 270 electoral votes.
Trump has continued to tweet alleging widespread fraud in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and other states.
The vote said on Twitter, the vote audit confirms Biden’s victory in Georgia, despite finding out the ballot papers had disappeared. Thousands of uncounted votes were detected in Georgia counties. When the much more important signature match process is implemented, Republicans will win in the state.
