Chennai, 20 November (IANS). DMK’s youth wing leader Udayanidhi Stalin was arrested in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu on Friday during the party’s massive publicity program ahead of the assembly elections.
Party chief MK Stalin’s son Udayanidhi Stalin was arrested, as the police did not allow the program at Thirukuvalai.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) members protested, condemning the police action.
“We will resume the program tomorrow (Saturday),” he said.
The DMK says that in the next 75 days its 15 leaders will meet people in all 234 assembly constituencies to highlight the misrule of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government.
In a statement issued here, the DMK said that 15 leaders of the party would hold 15,000 meetings in four phases, travel 15,000 kilometers and DMK President M.K. Stalin’s message will take part in 1 million discussions to promote Towards the Dawn.
According to the DMK, the purpose of this program is to highlight the misrule of the AIADMK government and to know the problems faced by the people.
The DMK has claimed that the party will also meet the expectations of the people after the next government’s 2021 assembly elections.
DMK President Stalin will begin his election campaign in January 2021.
The party’s youth wing, along with Udayanidhi Stalin, launched the program in Nagapattinam district on Friday.
