New Delhi, 21 November (IANS). Nawazuddin Siddiqui feels that the OTT platform in India is crumbling. Everyone here wants to do something on a digital platform, but not for art but for business.
Nawazuddin told IANS, OTT was obviously a platform for content but was different from the Bollywood form and had a different character or style. I am not talking about social content but content for the audience, who want something different from the regular content of Bollywood. It is now overflowing. We have a tendency to play sheep here. This is sure to bring down the level.
The actor’s Serious Men, Raat is alone and the Ghoomketu Project are released on the streaming platform this year.
He further said, we make log art a business. I am afraid it will also be in the OTT space to show anything for business. It is happening like this. For example, I did not expect some movies to be released on Netflix, but they are being released exclusively on Netflix in India. Netflix and other OTT services vary greatly in audience.
He added, “There was a time when the Sacred Games star was optimistic about the OTT wave in India, but not now.” Now it seems that it is decreasing. This happens when people come from all directions and trade in the name of creativity. Once, when two or four shows came, it seemed that there was a chance of OTT growing but later it became a business.
Nawazuddin made these remarks while discussing the future of the industry with stars like Saif Ali Khan, Samantha Akkineni, Manoj Bajpayee, Tisca Chopra and Divya Dutta. The discussion was held under the Royal Stag Barrel Select Lorge Short Films Evening, which will be coming soon on Zee Network.
