Los Angeles, November 21 (IANS). When Oscar-winning actor Maharshala Ali accepted a role in the 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the only condition was that he should not have an intimate scene with co-star Taraji P. Hanson. He said this because it was out of respect for his religion.
According to Female First Dot UK, Ali said on the Mind Power Mixtape podcast, “My old agent called me and said that you have got the role.” I said that if there will be a sex scene in it, then I cannot. In the final shot Taraji and I start kissing and then we go out of the frame.
Ali said, even 15 years ago I could only go to this point because I want to keep the place of respect for my religion.
The actor told his father, he was not only into sports. There was a lot of music, art, which I connected with my father. When he died, we were like best friends. For him, I came into the world of acting by writing poems. I started performing when my father was ill. When I started going out to New York, I used to do small performances for them. He died shortly after.
