Patna, 22 November (IANS). An acid attack on a land dispute in Bihar’s Saran district on Sunday injured 20 people, including three people who are battling for life in a hospital.
The incident occurred at Jaitpur Takht village under Daudpur police station around 10.30 am.
Daudpur SHO Sujit Kumar Chaudhary said that three people named Anoop Shah, Tulsi Shah and Munna Shah were arrested after the incident.
It was a land dispute between Sanjay Shah and Ramchandra Shah that triggered the attack on Sunday after a family member of Ramchandra Shah was allegedly attacked by members of Sanjay Shah’s family.
After the alleged attack, Ramchandra Shah’s family members and supporters engaged in heated fights with Sanjay Shah’s supporters. Meanwhile, some supporters of Ramachandra Shah allegedly hurled four to five acid bottles at the other group. Many people burnt continuously. Chaudhary said that some viewers also fall prey.
“It is revealed during the investigation that the attackers used some kind of liquid chemical in the manufacture of jewelery,” he said.
Some of the victims were identified as Sonu Gupta, Ravi Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Roshan Shah, Mohit Kumar, Bullet Ram, Bharat Ram, Pushpa Devi, Savita Devi and Babita Devi.
The victims were taken to hospitals in nearby Daudpur, Ekma and Chapra, while three seriously injured were referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
