Ramalla, 22 November (IANS). A senior Palestinian official said Palestine has proposed to exclude the US from The Middle East Quartet (Middle East Quartet) to pursue stalled peace talks with Israel.
Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee member Ezam al-Ahmad told Voice of Palestine Radio on Saturday, Palestine proposed to hold a meeting with Russia, the European Union and the United Nations with the participation of other countries except the US.
The current Middle East quartet includes the US, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations, with a mandate to facilitate the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, according to Xinhua.
However, al-Ahmad said, Washington’s role in the quartet could be reactivated after the elected US President Joe Biden took over the administration, relying on the support of a two-country solution.
He said, there is no alternative to a two-country solution.
